Zonealarm Pro Review
ZoneAlarm Pro by Zone Labs Inc. has been awarded several times. It protects your computer from pushy hackers and it protects your personal data by blocking out viruses and Trojans. The program works by denying access to your computer (both in and out) to all "non" trusted programs.
Ease of use
With ZoneAlarm you have a program which is very easy to use. All features are easily tweaked to fit your setup. Having said this, ZoneAlarm Pro has limited tweaking for experienced users. Hence, the layout is too simple and designed for the beginner.
Ease of Installation
It's no problem downloading and setting up Zone Lab from the website. Be aware that the prgrom requires quite a lot space your harddisk drive - 50 MB.
Feature set
The "MyVault" feature is cool. With this you have the possibility to enter any personal information you wish to protect. Add data like "trusted sites". This could be your Netbanking site to MyVault. If someone tries to acces or transmitting MyVault data, ZoneAlarm Pro will block the access right away.
Another great feature is the e-mail protection offered by ZoneAlarm Pro. The e-mail feature is called Mailsafe and protects you from receiving or sending viruses by e-mails. Often people are mostly concerned with no receiving virus infested e-mails, but what about if the disaster occurs? Normally your computer might take over your mail program (such as eg Outlook) and resend itself to all your contacts. But Mailsafe will block all "not validated" e-mails which protects your contatcs from virus attacks from your computer - smart!
Reliability
ZoneAlarm Pro is very reliable. It blocks incoming trojans with four ports left open, and it never made it past the firewall.
