The Kaspersky Antivirus Version 6 must be considered as one of the best products achieveable on the market today. This product is very easy to use and it's efficient and has several options. Kaspersky Antivirus makes it possible for you to choose which files you would like the program to scan by simply right clicking on the file. You even have the possibility to select a number of files to scan, and you can scan your entire computer.
If the software detects a virus you can just delete the file. Each scan is provided with an estimated time to finish - this gives you time to plan accordingly. With Kaspersky you have the possibility to run only a quick scan, a deep scan, or a single file scan. This is simple, but yet very effective.
Ease of use
Kaspersky has a very straight-forward and easy-to-use interface. Kaspersky is divided into three tabs: Protection, settings and support. Within each of those tabs, you have the possibility to choose from several other functions. With Kaspersky you'll be fine if you're an average home user or an advanced user. If you don't want to get too technical, stick to the recommended settings and the easy-to-find scan button that will instantly start to scan your computer based on these settings. If you're a more advanced user, you can go into the settings tab and customize what you would like the program to do.
Ease of Installation
The download and installing proces of Kaspersky is problem free. You must reboot your computer, but that's no inconvenience. Be aware that Kaspersky occupies 0MB of hard drive space, and it consumes very few system resources when active.
Effectiveness
Kaspersky Antivirus Version 6 has passed several tests. Among these are the VB100% award, the ICSA 2005 and the West Coast Labs Checkmark level 1 and 2. With these passed tests, you'll have a program that detects all of the “in the wild” viruses, prevents virus replication and disinfects all of the viruses that could be disinfected. Kaspersky Antivrus is very fast - with Kaspersky Antivirus you'll not be spending too much time scanning your computer or set it up to run at night.
Updates
With Kaspersky you have hourly signature file and program updates; other vendors update your system only when necessary. With Kaspersky, you have the possibility to roll back any update. This is not the case with other antivirus vendors. This leaves a very small window of opportunity for a virus to be created and infect your machine. Alternatively, you can configure the program so you can receive automatic updates or you can manually update your program.
Help/Support
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6 provides context-sensitive in-program help files. If you're on the Data Files page and you click Help, you''ll be taken to the entry for Data Files within the Help file. This is a nice feature that we don't see too often. Kaspersky offers you a solid 208-page PDF manual, including everything you need except an index. The table of contents is fairly detailed, so you should be fine. There are active user forums and FAQs available online. Finally, you have the possibility to e-mail or call a toll-free number for live technical support.
